The introduction of the fully electric 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning will cause waves of excitement to spread across the full-size truck market. The number of people on the waiting list is substantial, which amps up the tension.
The first electric pickup truck to be produced by the corporation will almost certainly be the most significant electric vehicle that will be available for purchase in the year 2022.
From the middle of the 1960s, the Ford F-150 has held the title of best-selling truck in Canada, and for the last twelve years, it has also held the title of best-selling vehicle overall.
As a result of this momentum, Lightning will be one of the electric vehicles (EVs) that receives the most attention in the next year.
The Mustang Mach-E marked the beginning of Ford’s journey toward its goal of producing an all-electric vehicle by the year 2030. The company’s efforts are expected to reach full steam when the F-150 Lightning is released later in 2022.
Lightning will have little trouble finding buyers given the high level of brand awareness it has and the growing interest in electric cars. In point of fact, Ford made the decision in December of 2021 to temporarily suspend the process of accepting reservations owing to the tremendous demand.
There will be other light-duty full-size all-electric pickups on the market before the all-new Ford F-150 Lightning, but it will be the most important.
Ford’s unrivaled supremacy in the market for full-size pickup trucks will continue with the introduction of the 2022 F-150 Lightning. The Lightning is designed to empower contractors, do-it-yourselfers, and families with increased productivity, safety, and capacities. It is poised to be everything at once.
480 kilometers of driving distance with an extended-range battery pack
The Ford F-150 Lightning will be equipped with two electric motors as standard equipment. One will be mounted on the front axle, while the other will be mounted on the back axle with the capability of four-wheel drive. There are two different sizes of lithium-ion battery packs that will be used to power the electric motors.
The standard-range battery, which has a capacity of 98 kW, will provide the truck the ability to drive an estimated 370 kilometers without needing to be recharged. The mobility of the vehicle may be increased to an estimated 480 kilometers with the 131-kW optional Extended-range battery pack. The suggested ranges will change depending on the kind of trim and application that is chosen.
Different charging choices for Ford F-150 lightning range
The Lightning will come with a wide variety of different charging choices from Ford. When charging the Standard-range battery at home with the provided Level 2 32A Ford Mobile charger, it will take just 14 hours to go from having a 15% charge to having a full charge. It will take 19 hours for the device with an extended range.
The Ford 80A Charge Station Pro, which is an optional accessory, is the most efficient way to charge a battery at home. It can get a typical battery from 15 percent to 100 percent charge in only ten hours.
Much less time will be needed to charge the extended-range battery, only eight hours. This is made possible by the onboard chargers of the Lightning, which have a maximum output of 19.2 kW for the Extended-range battery and 11.3 kW for the Standard-range battery.
When connected to a 50-kW DC fast charger while traveling, the Standard-range Lightning will give an 80% state of charge in 91 minutes, bringing the battery level up from 15%. The wait time will be reduced to 44 minutes with a much quicker 150-kW charging.
Charging times for the battery with an extended range will be 122 minutes initially, and then 41 minutes afterward.
No dearth of power due to its 426 horsepower and 775 pound-feet of torque
The power of the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning will never be an issue. The combined output of the two electric motors, when powered by a battery with a Standard-range capacity, is 426 horsepower and an incredible 775 pound-feet of torque. The number of horsepower increases to 563 when using the battery with an extended range.
This later version of the Lightning will be able to accelerate from 0 to 96 kilometers per hour in around 4.5 seconds, making it the quickest production F-150 ever made. The adaptive cruise control and independent rear suspension makes it the best vehicle.
Standard features and available packages for the 2022 F-150 Lightning
All of the first early production models of the all-new F-150 Lightning will have the SuperCrew four-door cab and the 5.5-foot bed as its standard configurations.
The Lightning XLT comes standard with ten 120V outlets (two in the cab, four in the bed, and four in the front trunk) and one 240V outlet in the bed in addition to the standard Tailgate Work Surface, 20-inch wheels, and 9.6 kW Pro Power Onboard.
A horizontal 12-inch touchscreen with SYNC 4, the inside Work Surface, cloth seats, and wireless Ford Power-Up over-the-air upgrades are some of the other standard amenities. The crew cab body style allows seating for five people and has android auto features for CarPlay and other applications.
The integrated trailer brake controller and heated steering wheel with dual electric motors makes it the best among Ford series. The automatic emergency braking is best for max trailer tow package with the rear parking sensors to make it better than standard range models.

How Quickly Does the Ford F-150 Lightning Charge Its Batteries?
In an ideal world, every Lightning owner would have access to 240-volt charging at their house or their place of employment, where they can plug in and take care of the majority of their charging needs while they are sleeping or working.
But, if you do not have easy access to one of these Level 2 charging stations, or if you discover that you need to refuel while you are on a lengthy road trip, you may find that you need to depend on DC fast-charging stations, which are also referred to as Level 3 stations. In circumstances like this, the amount of time spent charging is of the utmost importance.
We used an Electrify America fast-charging station to bring a 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning Platinum from 5 percent to 90 percent charge, and then we converted the amount of energy given into miles of the driving range at highway speeds. This allowed us to determine how long you will be waiting.
After 15 minutes of charging, the Lightning gained an additional 74 miles, bringing its total range to 133 miles after 30 minutes of charge. The Lightning had added 189 miles of range after 45 minutes of charging, and after an hour of charging, the electric vehicle had acquired 214 miles of range. The charging time was measured in minutes.
That’s really decent, but it’s not amazing. The Ford electric truck has a maximum rated charging power of just 150 kW, which means that it cannot take in electrons as rapidly as its primary competitors, the Rivian R1T and the GMC Hummer EV electric vehicles.
EV geeks should take notice, however, that the Lightning suddenly surpassed its declared maximum charging power of 150 kW when it peaked at 160 kW for a few minutes at the beginning of the test. This occurred while it was charging at a rate of 160 kW. The household style power outlets are best for the tow technology package.
The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning is set to revolutionize the full-size truck market with its all-electric powertrain, advanced features, and impressive capabilities. With its strong brand reputation and growing interest in electric vehicles, the Lightning is sure to be a hit among contractors, families, and anyone looking for a reliable and high-performing pickup truck.
Ford’s commitment to producing all-electric vehicles by 2030 is evident in the development of the F-150 Lightning, and it is a promising step towards a sustainable future for the automotive industry. As the market for electric vehicles continues to grow, the F-150 Lightning will undoubtedly play a significant role in shaping its future.
